ERIK CORDES, CHIEF SCIENTIST
Erik is an ocean explorer and a deep-sea ecologist. He fell in love with the oceans at a very young age, and found the deep sea while in college. He has been on numerous ocean-going expeditions, many on the R/V Atlantis with Alvin and Bruce, and has discovered all manner of new species and ecosystems. In the course of this research, he has developed a keen awareness of the ever-increasing human impacts of the deep sea and became passionate about finding a solution. This requires that he leave his wife Brooke and his two children, Henry and Maude, on land more than he would like, but it’s all in the name of science.
